Violators of law w arned
The government
will take legal action against those
who take the law into their hands,
damage public property and assault
public officials, Media Centre for
National Security (MCNS) Director
General Lakshman Hulugalle said
yesterday. He said that certain
groups are trying to change the
existing peaceful environment in the
country earned after a great effort,
by attempting to create a commotion.

marked another first: that of a

Milinda Moragoda is expected to be
named the UPFA candidate for the
post of Colombo mayor. A senior
Cabinet Minister said that Moragoda
was the front runner for the post
and he was most likely to be named
as the UPFA mayoral candidate for
Colombo.

Libyan rebel
chief Mustafa Abdel Jalil on Monday
hailed the end of the four-decade
“Kadhafi era,” after his fighters
took control of most of Tripoli. But
Abdel Jalil also warned that he
could quit as head of the rebel
National Transitional Council (NTC)
if he loses control of the
revolution, amid possible revenge
acts by insurgents.
