Counterfeit notes seized

Nittambuwa police seized 48 counterfeit notes of Rs 1,000
denomination and 60 Rs 500 notes during a raid. On a tip-off from an
informant, Police recovered the counterfeit notes in two locations.
Police arrested a suspect from Godagama, Ellakkala while he was in
the possession of five fraudulent Rs 1,000 notes in Walpola Junction,
Nittambuwa.
The police found another 13 fake notes of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500
denominations from Kumar’s home after questioning him. Following further
investigations, Nittambuwa police, raided a house at Urapola where the
counterfeit currency were illegally produced. The Police who broke into
the house, arrested another two suspects while printing another stock of
fake notes. The suspects were identified as B Anura Premajayantha of
Kuruwita and W A A Mahesh Kumara of Urapola.
The Police also seized 39 fake notes of Rs 1,000 denomination and 56
Rs 500 fraudulent notes along with a computer and a printer from the
location.
The suspects produced before the Attanagalla Magistrate were remanded
until August 30.Investigations are being conducted by HQI V Bandara,
