AG withdraws indictment against businessman

Colombo High Court Judge Bandula Atapattu allowed an application by the Attorney General to withdraw the indictment against businessman and company director Diresh Hettiarachchi and discharged him from the proceedings before court.

At the outset, State Counsel A Serasinghe informed Court that the two parties had come to an agreement to settle the issue in respect of a land dispute and forwarded a report to court.

Senior Counsel Kalinga Indatissa, who appeared for Hettiarachchi, and Senior Counsel Nalin Ladduwahetti, who appeared for complainant Doole, jointly submitted to court that their clients have settled the issue.
