Special CID team to probe PC killing

A special Criminal Investigation Department team has been sent to Puttalam to investigate and arrest the suspects responsible for the murder of a police constable.

Police Spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody said that the CID team led by a Superintendent of Police arrived in Puttalam yesterday morning.

Police constable 61006 Bandara was attached to the Puttalam Police at the time he was brutally murdered on Sunday night.

An unruly mob had assaulted and slashed the police constable who was patrolling the Puttlam town mistaking him for the mythical monster. The critically injured constable died on admission to the Puttlam Hospital. (SKM)
