More funds for Colombo development
Over Rs 46,200 lakhs was allocated for the immediate development
activities in the Colombo district this year.
These funds were allocated for Provincial road development project,
Divi Neguma project, Samurdhi programme and Gama Neguma project in
Colombo District this year.
Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa participated at the
Colombo District Coordination Committee on Saturday.
The meeting discussed in details related to Divi Neguma National
programme, Provincial Road Development Project, Gama Naguma Project,
Samurdhi Programme, decentralized budget and many other matters related
to the Colombo District. Furthermore, progress of development projects
launched in the Colombo district were also evaluated. Addressing the
Coordinating Committee meeting, Minister Rajapaksa said each Divisional
Secretariat in Colombo District will be provided with funds for the
development of the Colombo District by the Economic Development
Ministry.
The money will be spent to develop facilities in the district.
The government will allocate more money for the development of the
district since it is the commercial hub of the country, the Minister
said. Petroleum Resources and Development Minister Susil Premajayantha,
Water Supply and Drainage Minister Dinesh Gunawardene, Education
Minister Bandula Gunawardene, Power and Energy Minister Patali Champika
Ranawaka, Western Province Governor Alavi Maulana, Finance and Planning
Deputy Minister Geethanjana Gunawardena, Parliamentarians Thilanga
Sumathipala, Duminda Silva and Provincial Council Minister Upali
Kodikara and Hector Bethmage also participated. |
