Nine dengue high - risk areas

The Health Ministry yesterday identified nine dengue high risk areas. They are the Colombo Municipal Council, Dehiwala Mount-Lavinia,

Kaduwela, Homagama, Kolonnawa, Wattala, Ja-ela, Kelaniya and Divulapitiya MOH areas.

Meanwhile, the Ministry Epidemiology Unit said over 121 persons have died of dengue upto August 19.

The highest number of dengue deaths, 58 had been reported from the Colombo district.

A total of 22 persons had died from Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in the Colombo Municipal Council area during the same period. Other parts of the Colombo district recorded 36 deaths. Gampaha district recorded 18 dengue deaths during the same period while the Batricaloa district recorded nine deaths.

The total number of deaths reported from the Kalutara district is six while six dengue cases were reported from the Puttalam district.
