Sri Lanka is today poised for exponential growth and sustainable
progress and development. The peace we yearned, for almost three decades
and the political stability fundamental for strong economic growth is a
reality.
Speaking at the Exporters' Association of Sri Lanka Annual General
Meeting the Guest of Honour and the keynote speaker, Central Bank
Governor, Ajith Nivard Cabraal encouraged the high profile House by
stating that, despite the state of the world's economy, exports in the
first half of the year had demonstrated that the country can achieve
growth at around 8.5 percent this year.
He explained the negative impact of inflation and urged exporters to
identify niche market demands whilst addressing the aspect of improving
productivity. He stated that the government had successfully addressed
the establishment of a stable macro- economic platform for business
development by regulating and reducing interest rates and the level of
inflation. |
