Falsehood will be laid to rest - Defence Secy

Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa said that the falsehood created by the LTTE’s international propaganda machinery together with some in the Tamil Diaspora will be laid to rest with the publication of the Humanitarian Operation Factual Analysis enabling the world to conclude beyond any doubt that the humanitarian operation was just. He made this observation at the launching ceremony of the report titled Humanitarian Operation Factual Analysis July 2006 - May 2009 at the Hilton Hotel yesterday.

LTTE assassinated over 100 democratically elected political leaders, govt officials

The report ‘Humanitarian Operation Factual Analysis July 2006-May 2009’ compiled by the Defence Ministry has it that the LTTE which unleashed a brutal campaign of terror and violence in Sri Lanka assassinated over one hundred democratically elected political leaders and government officials from all ethnicities in Sri Lanka as well as a Head of State of Sri Lanka and a former Prime Minister of India.

Navy rescues Indian trawler

The Sri Lanka Navy rescued an Indian fishing trawler which had run aground on the sand banks in the North-western seas of Sri Lanka on July 31, 2011. The Indian fishing trawler, named “Selvaboodhi” and bearing the registration number TN/10/MFB/843 with five Indian fishing crew onboard, was sighted stuck in the sand banks by a SLN craft on routine patrol in the seas off Thalai-mannar.
