Allegations against SL and the right to defence
There is so much energy generated in allegations
of human rights violations and war crimes, against Sri Lanka in the
international arena, that the heat could be utilized to throw some
light on reality. The hottest salvo against Sri Lanka is the
allegation of “War Crimes and White Flags” aimed by none clean
enough to point an untainted finger at us.

Meditation on the auspicious
In my conversations with people from different
walks of life and different parts of the country I’ve heard some
talk of the auspicious and inauspicious. I know of one family living
in Sinhapitiya, Gampola that was quite fixated with such things. If
one member had to embark on an important journey, another would set
off a few minutes earlier so that any ill-sign would be first
encountered by this individual and the traveller spared.

Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development
Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne at a recent news conference disclosed
that he is planning to double the present fish harvest from 385,000
mt to 686,000mt in 2013. It’s worthy of commending his high
expectations, although it’s a Herculean task, but nothing is
impossible in this scientific era.
