Milo Schools Colours Awards Ceremony:
Heshan, Madhavi win top awards
Trinity College swimmer Heshan Unamboowe was
adjudged the most outstanding sportsman of the year while Madhavi
Weerathunge (Mahamaya Girls College) who excelled in the same event
won the title in the girls’ category at the Schools Colours Awards
Ceremony, sponsored by Milo. Paddlers Hasintha Sashiranga and Nuwani
Navodya of Dharmasoka Vidyalaya, Ambalangoda won the awards for the
best emerging sportsman and woman respectively.

Evans wins Tour de France
Cadel Evans became the first Australian to win
the Tour de France after Briton Mark Cavendish took Sunday’s final
stage on the Champs Elysees for the third year in a row. The
34-year-old Evans, the oldest Tour winner since World War II, showed
resilience throughout as he broke three-times champion Alberto
Contador’s unbeaten run in a grand tour since 2007.

Khan KOs Judah in unification bout
Britain’s Amir Khan captured the International
Boxing Federation’s light welterweight title Saturday with a
dominating fifth-round knockout of Zab Judah. Khan hit Judah with
hard right hand in the midsection and the American veteran crumpled
to the canvas at 2:47 of the fifth round of the 140-pound
unification bout at the Mandalay Bay hotel and casino.
