ISO for smart card driving licences

Metropolitan Advanced Technologies was accredited with the ISO 9001:2008 by Moody International for the processing of the smart card driving licences.

This certification is awarded for efficient and thorough service of the production of the smart card for the driving licences. These are being developed by Metropolitan together with Face Technologies of South Africa.

"This certification would have not been possible without the guidance and support of the Transport Minister, Transport Ministry Secretary and the Motor Traffic Commissioner General and the DMT staff," said Metropolitan Advanced Technologies Director Jagath Ravindra.

The smartcard based driving licence contains a microchip that carries driver information including a digital photograph, fingerprint and signature. The card also contains additional information such as the driver's blood group and medical information for use during times of emergencies. A streamlined computerized driving licence management system has been implemented so that applicants can obtain the driving licence with ease.
