Abans introduces Lock&Lock containers

Abans recently introduced Lock&Lock the world's No.1 food storage container to the Sri Lankan market. Lock&Lock is a world famous and globally reputed brand of storage containers, known for its durability and 100 percent airtight lids, which keep food stored in them and refrigerated fresh for longer periods.

The innovative Lock&Lock container was developed by a famous American scientist in 1946 and has been produced using a similar design principle for over 60 years. Lock&Lock containers have a unique four sided locking system which is the world's first breaking standard design principle of existing airtight containers and was rapidly established as a new concept for airtight containers to keep food fresh longer.

Lock&Lock became so much in demand in less than seven years after it introduced its new innovative product into the market, that over 200 imitation products manufactured in various countries appeared in the global markets claiming to be original Lock&Lock products. Copying of Lock&Lock products in such a large scale amply reflected the superiority of the original product. However there is a marked difference in the imitation product as they cannot comply with Lock&Lock's quality of four-sided locking system and 100 percent airtight feature.

The main difference between Lock&Lock food storage containers and ordinary air tight containers is Lock&Lock's internationally patented "Molten Liquid Flow Blocking Hole" innovative technology. The flow of plastic resin in a computer simulation when comparing with other similar products proves that in Lock&Lock products there is regularity in the flow of resin which prevents wild lines along the hinge.

Hinge lines are fine lines caused in the manufacturing process where two raw material flows of plastic resin meet while the container is being shaped, and is liable to cause damage to the container when opening and closing the lid.

The major difference occurs in three features that the non-genuine products cannot duplicate. Firstly, the Locking Mechanism in Lock&Lock containers is far superior. The lid in Lock&Lock containers close absolutely tight through the interaction between the container body and the lid, while the lids of similar products close unilaterally by pressure on the lids, which is an uneasy and uncomfortable closing process and often causes damage to the lid.

Secondly, the weakness of the locking structures of copy products react sensitively to the temperature and impact. The weak locking systems of copy products cause a sensitive reaction to temperature change and outside impact which result in leaks by freezing or if dropped.

Thirdly, the difference in airtight property and humidity permeability could be an indicator test. Lock&Lock has about 200 times lower value in humidity permeability tests than other products (lacking lid location projections on the container base).

Genuine Lock&Lock products are now available in a variety of sizes to suit every food storage requirement at affordable prices at Abans Showrooms islandwide.

Celebrating Easter with Jetwing

A symbol of newness and new life is seen in April with the celebration of Easter. Christians celebrate Easter as the day that Jesus was resurrected after his crucifixion and it is the central celebration of the Christian church. The English word 'Easter' is derived from the word 'Eostre' and the Anglo-Saxons referred to the month of April as "Eostre-monath" which means the month of openings. It was a salute to spring and the idea of re-birth for as the well known quote says 'Easter spells out beauty, the rare beauty of new life'. It is this beauty of new life that is celebrated and remembered during the season of Easter and it is this beauty that Jetwing Hotels strives to encapsulate to the best of its ability. For this reason Jetwing will be eagerly anticipating the Easter festivities and ensuring that all those who wish to participate in the Easter experience with its traditions and customs will have an opportunity to do so.

Jetwing Lighthouse

Along with the religious celebrations and observances of Easter people from various backgrounds and cultures also celebrate Easter with particular types of food and activities. Many of these activities and food represent a unique story which is rich in historical and cultural value. It is the aim of Jetwing Hotels to embody a myriad of traditions and ideas when celebrating Easter at two of its stunning venues located in the island. The two hotels are namely Jetwing Lighthouse and Jetwing Blue, which will be the ideal spots at which to enjoy this year's Easter holidays.

Stretches of sandy shores coupled with the blue waters of the Indian Ocean are the location for the refined and elegant hotel that is Jetwing Blue. The hotel is located in the legendary town of Negombo which is also known by its nickname of 'Little Rome'. This nickname is derived from the fact that the city is full of churches and at nearly every turn travellers will encounter either a church or a statue of Jesus Christ. Most of these churches are representative of the country's encounter with the Colonizers (Portuguese and Dutch most significantly) who built these Christian edifices. Thus, visitors to Jetwing Blue are able to witness the multi-faceted nature of religion in Sri Lanka as they discover Negombo and its surroundings. This Easter they will also be able to enjoy the festivities at Jetwing Blue where there will be a range of events.

For the children there will be an Easter Egg Hunt. The tradition of eggs at Easter goes back to Mesopotamia, where Christians first gave eggs to their friends at Easter to remind them of the resurrection of Jesus. For eggs were considered to be representative of the seed of life and fertility as associated with the idea of the bird emerging from its shell. Uncertainty shrouds the origins of the tradition of hiding eggs on Easter Sunday; however it is possible that this game emerged from southern Germany where the practice of hiding eggs in difficult spots was an Easter tradition to indicate the trials that existed on the way to the cross. Jetwing Blue will follow up their Easter Egg Hunt with an Easter Sunday brunch which begins at noon and which will undoubtedly consist of scrumptious seafood delicacies, highlighting the seafood haven town that is Negombo. There will also be a Chocolate Egg Goodie Table, which will be full of surprises. This will be to the accompaniment of live Jazz music and Live Action Stations for a large variety of salads and desserts.

However if the west coast is not your destination this Easter, Jetwing Hotels also provides you with the option of enjoying the Easter weekend at Jetwing Lighthouse which is situated in the southern coastal town of Galle. A hotel by the sea, it provides a delightful landscape of sun, sea and sand combined with the classic beauty and rich ambience of this world renowned hotel. From April 22 to 24 the hotel will be serving hot cross buns for breakfast. A hot cross bun is a sweet, yeast leavened, spiced bun with currents or raisins often made with candied citrus fruits and marked with a cross on top. These buns are traditionally eaten at Easter beginning on Good Friday with the cross standing as a symbol of the crucifixion.

There will also be a chocolate egg display where guests will be asked to guess the weight of the biggest chocolate egg with proceeds going to charity. On Easter Sunday there will be a fabulous Easter lunch which begins at 1pm followed by an Easter Egg Hunt, games and egg painting at 3pm.
