Essay contest for schoolchildren

The Government Information Department has organized an Essay Competition under the theme The new era of post-Independence Sri Lanka for GCE O-L, and A-L students to mark the 63rd Independence Day celebration.

Essays incorporating the details of socio-economic changes that are taking place after the end of the three decade war in the country could be submitted in Sinhala, Tamil or English languages in 1,000 words. Students over 15 years could take part in this competition.

While the winner will be awarded certificates and prizes, the winning essay will be published in the souvenir of the Government Information Department to mark the 63rd Independence Day celebrations.

Students wishing to take part in this essay competition are requested to submit their own essays with the certification of the school Principal to reach Director General of Information, Government Information Department, No 163, Kirullapone Avenue, Colombo 5 on or before January 10, 2011 by registered post.

On the top left corner of the envelop it should be mentioned as 'For Essay Competition'.
