Welcoming the delegation the Minister recalled the overwhelming
generosity and the assistance provided by Japan during the past 40 years
to uplift the social, cultural and economic sectors of Sri Lanka.
Hirano praised the government for bringing peace to Sri Lanka. He
also pointed out that when the delegation visited North and East they
witnessed peace and saw ample resources available in those areas. He
also stated that the delegation was impressed by the presentation made
by the Board of Investment (BOI) and the investment friendly environment
which has been created by the Government.
Japanese Ambassador Kunio Takahashi emphasized the need to create
awareness among Japanese people on the peaceful environment prevailing
in Sri Lanka. He said after peace dawned in Sri Lanka the number of
Japanese visitors to Sri Lanka is on the increase. |
