High hardware, software cost hampers ICT growth
School lab project progressing well:
The Government has established 5000 computer
laboratories in Government schools islandwide to enhance student ICT
skills. They hope to provide ICT skills for schoolchildren from
their tender years. Addressing the Infotel inauguration ceremony
Technology and Research Minister Prof Tissa Vitarana said plans have
been initiated to set up more computer laboratories in the schools
in the face of limited ICT penetration in the country.
