Sharmal, Thisuri in stunning wins

At the Open National Tennis Championships that has come to the semi final stage, twelve year old Sharmal Dissanayake stunned Under 18 player Yasas Dewage yet again in the quarter finals in a scintillating match in three sets (7-6, 6-3, 6-2) yesterday at the SLTA courts.

Sharmal will meet Dineshkanthan Thangaraja in the semi finals today. Dinesh came into the semi finals beating unseeded player Artha Hewacottage 6-2, 4-6, 6-4, 7-5.

The other semi final will be played between top seed Harshana Godamanne and Junior Champion Vimuktha De Alwis today at 2.00 pm at the SLTA courts.

In the girls quarter finals, Junior Champion Roshenka Fernando beat Shalini De Silva in straight sets (6-3,6-2) today.

She will meet second seed Kemalie Herath in the semi finals. The other semi final will be between Amritha Muthiah and fourteen year old Thisuri Molligoda.

Thisuri Molligoda who is the Under fourteen champion has beaten the under 16 champion Nilushi Fernando in the second round adding color to the tournament at the SLTA.
