The 18th Janasetha Ministerial Mobile Service of the Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities Ministry focused on the Mattegoda Housing scheme recently.

There are several housing schemes constructed by the National Housing Development Authority (NHDA) in the Colombo Municipal limits and its environs.

This mobile service was conducted on the concept of Minister Wimal Weerawansa to improve the infrastructure facilities of housing schemes with the consultation of householders, Government servants and politicians.

Most of the housing schemes have not been renovated for many years.

Residents of the Mattegoda housing scheme briefed the Minister of their grievances and problems of the housing scheme which are not been maintained by the NHDA.

Residents of the housing scheme emphasized the importance of setting up a police post, renovating a primary school, the outdated Sewerage disposal system. They requested the Minister to accrue the community centre which is being handed over to Homagama Pradeshiya Sabha.

The Mattegoda Housing Scheme was constructed in 1984 and consists of 1,122 houses.

The mobile service was conducted at Mattegoda Bauddha Mandiraya.

The Minister gave instant solution for same problems emphasized by the householders and he instructed the Government officers and the institutions to take immediate steps to solve their problems.

In response of the proposal forwarded by the householders for a police station.

The Minister inspected the plot of land already allocated for the police station and instructed the NHDA officials to clear of unauthorized constructions.

The Minister also inspected the Narithasan Pre-school at the Mattegoda Housing Scheme.

Minister Weerawansa also discussed matters regarding the irregular school bus service, the necessacity of a Junior School, short comings at the post office and daily interruption to the power and water supply with people.
