Janasetha focuses on Mattegoda scheme

The 18th Janasetha Ministerial Mobile Service of the Construction,
Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities Ministry focused on
the Mattegoda Housing scheme recently.
There are several housing schemes constructed by the National Housing
Development Authority (NHDA) in the Colombo Municipal limits and its
environs.
This mobile service was conducted on the concept of Minister Wimal
Weerawansa to improve the infrastructure facilities of housing schemes
with the consultation of householders, Government servants and
politicians.
Most of the housing schemes have not been renovated for many years.
Residents of the Mattegoda housing scheme briefed the Minister of
their grievances and problems of the housing scheme which are not been
maintained by the NHDA.
Residents of the housing scheme emphasized the importance of setting
up a police post, renovating a primary school, the outdated Sewerage
disposal system. They requested the Minister to accrue the community
centre which is being handed over to Homagama Pradeshiya Sabha.
The Mattegoda Housing Scheme was constructed in 1984 and consists of
1,122 houses.
The mobile service was conducted at Mattegoda Bauddha Mandiraya.
The Minister gave instant solution for same problems emphasized by
the householders and he instructed the Government officers and the
institutions to take immediate steps to solve their problems.
In response of the proposal forwarded by the householders for a
police station.
The Minister inspected the plot of land already allocated for the
police station and instructed the NHDA officials to clear of
unauthorized constructions.
The Minister also inspected the Narithasan Pre-school at the
Mattegoda Housing Scheme.
Minister Weerawansa also discussed matters regarding the irregular
school bus service, the necessacity of a Junior School, short comings at
the post office and daily interruption to the power and water supply
with people. |
