Armed gang arrested

Gampaha Police nabbed a-five-youth gang at Gampaha in a search operation, Police sources said. The gang from Gampaha, Kegalle, Tissamaharamaya and Panamure were armed with a locally made gun. A three-wheeler and a motorcycle were also recovered.

Police also recovered a stolen gold chain worth of Rs 450,000.

The suspects were produced before Gampaha Chief Magistrate Mohamed Mekie and remanded till September 1.

The Police team which made this arrest were led by HQI Gampaha Police, CIP, Prabath Dayananda, OIC Crime, IP. Ajith Priyantha and IP S. Kumarasena.
