The long postponed Under 13 International schools Netball
championships was held yesterday at the British school indoor court. The
organizers Leighton Park International School who had chosen their venue
as Shalika grounds were at a dead end when it poured with rain on the
day of the tournament.
When British School stepped in and offered the only indoor netball
court at no cost at all, Leighton Park was able to complete the sixth
annual under 13 netball championships without a hitch.
The umpires at these matches did an excellent job while the little
girls put on an outstanding display of netball not even seen at older
age groups. While Lyceum Nugegoda beat British school for 3rd place in a
very one-sided match, the final between OKI International School and

lined up. The scores moved neck and neck till it was four all.
From a lead of 6-4 at the end of the first half, OKI went on to win
11-6 at the final whistle. All in all it was an amazingly well played
final and OKI well deserved their victory.

Centrecourt Player was Tharuki Jayamaha (OKI), Best Shooter was Sajini
Gamage (Royal Institute), Best defensive player was Kaaveesha Rishmi
