Spate of robberies during New Year

Three incidents of house breaking and theft were reported from Anamaduwa, Puttalam and Dankotuwa during the New Year season.

On Sunday thieves had entered a house in Mahauswewa and robbed jewellery worth Rs. 94,800 and Rs. 12,000 cash while its occupants were away attending an Avurudu Festival held in the village.

The same day another gang of thieves had entered a house at Wharf road, Puttalam and robbed household property worth Rs. 55,300 while its occupants were away attending a religious ceremony in Madampe.

Meanwhile a motorcycle worth Rs. 40,000 had been robbed while it was parked near a house at Negombo road Dankotuwa on Sunday night.

Anamaduwa, Puttalam and Dankotuwa Police are investigating.
