Special housing loans for North

The National Housing Development Authority (NHDA) has implemented a special housing loan program with "Uthuru Vasanthaya" activities. This will be implemented in Jaffna, Vavuniya and Mannar districts and NHDA expects to implement this loan program in Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu within the next few months.

With this loan program 1,000 families will benefit. Nearly 350 families in Jaffna, Vavuniya and Mannar have been identified for this loan program. With this each family will receive Rs. 100,000 and NHDA says all construction work of these houses will be carried out with the active participation of the house holders and their savings.

NHDA technical officials will give all the technical assistance and it has been targeted to complete the construction work of these houses within six months.

With the implementation of this housing loan program in Northern Province under the "Uthuru Vasanthaya" activities, the Government has decided to construct a new district office in Mullaitivu for the NHDA. Government will spend Rs. 12.2 million for this district office complex and this fund will be released from the Emergency Northern Recovery Project (ENReP) with the guidance of the Infrastructure Development, Nation Building and Estate Ministry.
