The 2010 edition of the premier advertising awards festival for South
Asia, that centred around the theme 'Survival of the Freshest' was
fiercely contested, with countries including India, Bangladesh,
Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka submitting a total of 4,200 entries.
While Phoenix Ogilvy's entry 'Goezy' won Silver in the Field
Marketing category, its work with Iodex balm won a Bronze award in the
Ambient Category.
Ogilvy India took home the maximum metals. The agency won a total of
43 awards, which included one Grand Prix, three gold, one silver and
thirty bronze trophies. The agency picked up the Grand Prix in the
Integrated category, which was one of only two, awarded.
Phoenix Ogilvy Managing Director and CEO Irvin Weerackody said "Our
accomplishments at Goafest reflect this agency's concerted effort to
create effective advertising and to think out of the box, which
invariably results in a high level of creativity. Competing with the
best in Asia is indeed inspiring. Winning silver and bronze in this
highly competitive South-Asian award show is very significant to us."
This year's jury of eminent advertising and creative personnel
comprised Bobby Pawar, Agnello Dias, Sumanto Chattopadhyay, Prakash
Varma, and Ramesh Iyengar to name a few. Phoenix was also a finalist at
Cannes and the 20th London International Awards. Previously, the agency
won three gold awards at Abby's in Mumbai, 2005.
The Creative Abby Awards is the result of Abby's and Goafest, which
ran advertising awards separately, coming together to create one award
show and it is the equivalent of Cannes Lions in Asia.
