Project to export Ayurvedic products to Japan

Enterprises Development and Investment Promotion Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa yesterday granted approval to a project in Dambadeniya to export the finished products of indigenous ayurvedic medicine to Japan.

This agreement was signed between Japan's Hikari Mec Co Ltd and Sri Lanka and the total investment would be Rs. 600 million.

This project once completed would grant nearly 500 direct employment, Chairman Masaru Aikawa said. The project will use only carbonic fertilizer and we will be able to obtain a substantial foreign exchange, Minister Anura Yapa said.

In future too, there will be several projects of this nature and there will be focus on agriculture based tourism projects, the Minister further said.
