Weapons found

A haul of weapons that belonged to the LTTE hidden in Wellamullawaikkal area has been found by a special group of Police, Police sources said. The consignment included 7,000 anti personnel mines, six suicide kits, 350 kilograms of powerful explosives, two machines to identify radio waves and 35 mortar shells believed to be hidden by the fleeing terrorists during Vanni Humanitarian operation.

All these weapons have been wrapped in polythene bags and staged in plastic containers were hidden in two separate places adjacent to the coastal area.

The Police also have seized 56 compact discs that include information on the life of LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran.
