Madurankuliya shooting incident:

Police recover fire arm

Chilaw Division Intelligence sleuths last Friday recovered a cache of arms hidden in a mangrove off the lagoon area in Madurankuliya. These weapons included a 12 bore firearm with two live bullets, 54 ammunitions of T56 type and two magazines.

Weapons found

A haul of weapons that belonged to the LTTE hidden in Wellamullawaikkal area has been found by a special group of Police, Police sources said. The consignment included 7,000 anti personnel mines, six suicide kits, 350 kilograms of powerful explosives, two machines to identify radio waves and 35 mortar shells believed to be hidden by the fleeing terrorists during Vanni Humanitarian operation.
