Sri Lankan athletes bag four Gold Medals

Swimmer Mineka clinches her second gold in 100 m breast stroke:

Sri Lankan athletes had a field day bagging four Gold medals, one Silver and one Bronze on day two of the Athletics Event at Bangabandu National Stadium in Dhaka here on Sunday. Chandrika Subashini gave yet another splendid performance to win her second Gold medal in her pet event - 400 metres. She ran a superb race showing her class to return a time of 54.28 seconds. Her first Gold was in the 200 metres on Saturday.

Ashan steals the limelight at Eliyakanda Hill Climb

Ashan Silva became the star at the 14th Eliyakanda Hill Climb when he outdrove all experienced drivers to clock the fastest time for the day of 36.16 secs for the 675 metre Climb. Ashan driving his Mitsubishi Evo-5 in style clocked 38.41 secs in the first run and was lying behind the top drivers in the Super Car Category Aravinda Premadasa and last years winner Dinesh Deheragoda who drove high powered engines. Aravinda had the best time in the first run clocking 36.86 secs while Dinesh had 38.44 secs.

Janashakthi lift Singer MCA knock-out title by edging out Unichela

Janashakthi lifted the Singer MCA knock-out title for the first time when they edged out the star studded Unichela team by two wickets in a thrilling final encounter worked off at the P. Saravanamuttu Oval yesterday.
