School books available cheap at Deyata Kirula

School textbooks and extra reading material are available at a concessionary price at the Education Ministry stall at the Deyata Kirula exhibition in Pallekelle, Kandy. Education Ministry sources said teacher guide books also are on display at the exhibition centre.

The Ministry has taken steps to make the children aware about the standard schoolbag which is to be introduced for all schoolchildren by next year. A doctor will be available to explain how to use this bag and the benefits children can derive in using it. The public would be made aware about the practical procedure of how a book has to be published and the method adopted in printing books, sources said.

Marking schemes, past question papers and all answer scripts of those who became first in the island at examinations will also be on display. The traditional pirivena education system and how to prepare and write on ola leaves and how to preserve them will also be available at the piriven section at the Deyata Kirula exhibition premises.
