Rs 19.4 m water supply project for two villages

A safe drinking water supply project to fulfill a long felt need of
the people of Gurubebila and Wewalawewa was commissioned by Local
Government and Provincial Councils Minister Janaka Bandara Tennakoon.

Rs19.4 million has been spent on this project implemented through the
Samagi and Randiya Dahara community based units of the two villages. The
project’s main objective is to uplift the living standard of the rural
community by providing safe drinking water.
According to Ministry sources, the people in these areas have long
suffered from a drinking water problem due to the adverse weather
conditions experienced throughout the year.
The people living in 594 Grama Niladhari Divisions in the Central
Province had been facilitated by supplying safe drinking water under
this project. Over 6,000 families will benefit from this project.
This project has been financially and technically assisted by the
Rural Water Supply and Sanitary Division of the Urban Development and
Sacred Area Development Ministry, Central Provincial Council and
Dambulla and Abanganga Pradeshiya Sabhas. |
