Reb Mech goes North with Rs 200m factory

A new factory for mesh products will be constructed in Vavuniya.

An investment of Rs 200 million is envisaged.

The company plans to cater to the needs of the Northern area, Director/ General Manager, Reb Mech Sajith Kumarasinghe told Daily News Business.

“The proposed factory will manufacture mesh products and we have already bought the land. The factory building construction will start within a month and it is expected to be a good opportunity for mesh products in those areas,” he said.

He said the proposed factory will create 40 to 50 employment opportunities at the initial stage and there will be another 20 job opportunities thereafter.

It will help customers in the Northern area and provide convenience rather than travelling to Colombo.

“The mesh products industry is growing in Sri Lanka along with the construction industry 600m Reb Mech has a greater share of Mesh market in Sri Lanka. We have gaining on your products and services,”he said.

He said that the company moved towards the packaging industry that is a new and needed industry in Sri Lanka at present. As an expansion of the packaging industry, Reb Mech set up a branch in Dompe.

“It will cater to the local market that has the capacity to cater to the international market as well”, he said.

Reb Mech is a leading tower manufacturing company in Sri Lanka that caters to the international markets such as Maldives, African countries and Bangladesh.

The company has expanded the business into Egypt, China and Ghana for tower and mesh products.

“We started exporting towers to Maldives six years before. We manufactured around 5,000 towers for the Sri Lankan and international market worth around Rs. 3 billion, last year,” he said.
