Girl dies after falling from bus

A tragic death occurred yesterday near Talagaha junction in Akmeemana when a sixteen year school girl fell off a private bus while she was travelling on the foot-board of the bus. She was on her way to school.

The girl has been identified as H.A. Iresha Madusanka, a grade 11 student of All Saint’s College Galle.

The police investigations have revealed that the girl had been travelling on the foot-board of the over-crowded bus, which had been plying at high speed. As the girl fell off the bus she had been crushed to death on the spot.

Following the fatal accident both the driver and the conductor had gone missing.
