Brisk trading at CSE

The indices at the Colombo Stock Exchange saw last minute brisk trading in large cap companies as large quantities of John Keells Holdings were crossed boosting turnover yesterday. Total turnover for the day was Rs 1.5 billion with JKH accounting for Rs 1.2 billion of the day's business.

The premier blue chip company saw eight of the market deals at Rs 154 for a total of 7.5 million shares. The share closed up for the day at Rs 150.50, gaining Rs 4.50. Aitken Spence and Company gained Rs 30.00 to close at Rs 900.00, while Carson Cumberbatch and Company closed up Rs 8.50 to close at Rs 329.25.

The ASPI gained 39 points (+1.3 percent) to close at 2,952 while the more liquid MPI gained 44 points (+1.3 percent) to close at 3,370.
