NFF supports President:

JVP lost its purity as political party - NFF Leader

National Freedom Front Leader Wimal Weerawansa stated at the special convention of the NFF held at the Sugathadasa Stadium that the JVP had the option to select their own candidate for the Presidential election securing their identity preserved by its members sacrificing their lives during the Ranil Wickremesinghe regime.

Wimal Weerawansa also remarked that the JVP had lost its purity as a political party by the act of endorsing the candidate of the UNP as their presidential candidate and joining hands with the neo imperialist forces betraying the country.

Weerawansa said that Ranil Wickremesinghe was so sure that he would lose at the Presidential election that he attempted to find a substitute as a cat’s paw to save his face and retain the party leadership even after the presidential election.

He also said that the JVP cannot find a presidential candidate and Ranil Wickremesinghe cannot be successful. SLMC Leader Hakeem has no following as the people in the East were rallying round the Government led by Mahinda Rajapaksa with the renaissance since the defeat of the separatist and murderous LTTE. So they all joined together to find a common candidate.

Weerawansa further stated that the patriotic movements in the country have arrived at a juncture that they should get-together to re-elect Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Presidential election. President Rajapaksa defeated the so called indomitable LTTE to make Sri Lanka a leading country in the South Asian region defeating all the attempts of the brokers of imperialist forces.

Wimal Weerawansa continuing said that the JVP attempting to find good governance by joining hands with Ranil Wickremesinghe. Ranil Wickremesinghe was the politician who supported the LTTE to separate this country under the influence of the imperialist forces. This Government never attempted to defeat LTTE as they could benefit out of the LTTE if it remained undefeated.

“So how could the JVP find good governance with the UNP ? They could open the doors of Batalanda but the doors for good governance” Weerawansa stated.

“A leader who could stand against corruption, waste, malpractices etc only can defeat such a separatist terrorist organization” Weerawansa said.

“A leader who could stand against imperialist influences can defeat such an organization.” He said that President Mahinda Rajapaksa accomplished the defeat of LTTE as he was against corruption, waste, malpractices and all foreign influences.

Weerawansa stated that the country had reached a historical juncture when the second freedom struggle should be initiated.

The country needed a leadership to develop the country in all aspects using all the resources of the country including the energy resources in the sea beds of territorial waters. Wimal Weerawansa asserted that the NFF always stood against the imperialist forces and supports President Mahinda Rajapaksa who stood against the imperialist forces and their puppets and brokers and will work for the victory of President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the January 26 election.

UPFA General Secretary and Minister Susil Premjayantha said that traitors have donned the mask as “Deshapremis” to conspire with international forces to destabilize the country.

And urged all people to vote for President Mahinda Rajapaksa to protect the nation from such elements. He claimed those groups were not betraying a particular person but the entire country and nation.

SLFP General Secretary, Minister Maithripala Sirisena said the NFF had fulfilled its responsibility at the Government’s attempt to eradicate terrorism from the country.

He also expressed his confidence that the NFF would support President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the upcoming Presidential election to safeguard the nation and crush all international backed conspiracies.
