Whole nation grateful to President - CPC Governor

President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s re-election campaign for a second term in office was launched in the Kandy City with the participation of a large crowd of UPFA supporters yesterday morning. Ceremonies were also held concurrently in all leading towns in the Central Province.

Over a group of 1000 UPFA supporters gathered opposite the Kandy Central Market to herald the launching of the Presidential re-election campaign by lighting crackers to the beating of drums.

They later marched along Kandy streets in a procession led by Kandyan dancers shouting slogans pledging support to President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The participants were led by Central Province Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa, Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake, Provincial Councillors Thilina Bandara Tennakoon, Keshala Jayawardena and several other UPFA Municipal Councillors.

Central Province Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa said the whole nation would show its gratitude to President Rajapaksa for wiping out terrorism and re-establishing peace and freedom by re-electing him for a further term at the next Presidential election.

No one can deny the President’s victory irrespective of whichever candidate put forward by the Opposition to contest him. The Central Province will provide a historic majority to the President at the forthcoming election, he said.
