Two LTTE suspects arrested

Police arrested two LTTE suspects along with a claymore mine and other explosive items in Thonikal, Vavuniya on Saturday evening.

Police spokesman Senior DIG Nimal Mediwake said acting on information divulged by an LTTE suspect in custody the Police launched a search operation and arrested two LTTE cadres along with weapons in Thonikal at around 4.00pm.

A special team from the Vavuniya Police Intelligence nabbed the suspect along with a claymore mine weighing 7.5kg, a claymore stand, three batteries, an electric detonator, a remote control device and a fuse.

Vauniya Police is investigating to arrest more LTTE suspects in the area.
