Chalitha and Ishara clinch TT Titles

K.S.T. Chalitha Ranjana of Seylan Bank and Ishara Madurangi of Sri Lanka Air Force emerged Men's and Women's singles champions in the 63rd National Table Tennis Championships conducted by Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka which concluded at S. Thomas College Indoor Stadium, Mount Lavinia yesterday.

K.S.T. Chalitha Ranjana routed Chameera Ginige of Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda by 11/6, 13/11, 11/9, 9/11, 7/11 and 12/10 in the Men's Singles final while Ishara Madurangi defeated Nuwani Navodya of Dharmasoka College Ambalangoda, by 11/6, 11/5, 11/6, 6/11 and 11/6 in the Women's Singles final.

Ishara Madurangi also won the Open Women's Doubles event with Tharindra Weerakoon (Maliyadewa Balika) by beating Manesha Perera (Visakha Vidyalaya) and Ruvini Kannangara (Musaeus College) by 11/4, 11/5 and 11/7.

Milinda Lakshitha of Air Force and B.N.B. Jayasinghe of MAS Intimates bagged the Men's Doubles event by overcoming Indika Prasad and Dinesh Deshapirya of Navy by 13-11, 10-12, 11-7 and 11-9.

Nearly 200 Paddlers took part in the 63rd National Table Tennis Championships 2009.

Final results:

Open Men's Singles: K.S.T. Chalitha Ranjana (Seylan Bank) beat Chameera Ginige Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda) 11/06, 13/11, 11/09, 09/11, 07/11, 12/10.

Open Women's Singles: Ishara Madurangi (Sri Lanka Air Force) bet Nuwani Navodya (Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda) 11/06, 11/05, 11/06, 06/11, 11/06.

Open Men's Doubles: Milinda Lakshitha (Sri Lanka Air Force) and B.N.B. Jayasingha (MAS Intimates beat Indika Prasad and Dinesh Deshapriya (Sri Lanka Navy) 13/11, 10/12, 11/07, 11/09.

Veterans Men's Singles: (Over 45 and Above) Dietmar Doering (Aquarius Beach Resort Marawila) beat Fida Hussain (Veterans TT Association) 11/08, 11/08, 11/03.

Veterans Women's Singles: (Over 45 and Above) Nilmini Swarnakanthi (Auditor General's Department) beat Dr. Sriyani Mihindukulasooriya (Health Department, Kandy) 11/02, 12/10, 11/05.

Master's Men's Singles (Over 35/44): Lalith Priyantha (Butterfly TT Club Colombo) beat Gamini Moraes (Astron Sports Club) 11/05, 11/04, 11/06.

Men's Consolation Singles: Gayan Dilupa (Sri Lanka Navy) beat Pawan Hemasinghe (Vidyartha) 11/04, 08/11, 11/09.

Women's Consolation Singles: Vinoli Silva (Girls High School Kandy) beat Prasadi Rajapaksha (St. Joseph's B.M.V. Kegalle) 06/11, 11/05, 12/10.
