Amarapura Nikaya confers honours

Senior Presidential Advisor Basil Rajapaksa MP and Power and Energy Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage will be awarded honours by the Sri Lanka Amarapura Sect, Upcountry Chapter at the function to be held to present the credentials of office to the Prelate Mahopadya Anunayake Most Ven Attaragama Vajirajothi Anunayake Thera of the Chapter, today at the Upcountry Arts Association auditorium Kandy.

The chief prelate of the Amarapura Sect of the Buddhist clergy Most Ven Davuldena Gnanissara Maha Nayake Thera will preside at the function and representatives of the Ramanna, Malwatte and Asgiriya Sects will take part.

The honorary awards to the two Parliamentarians are being given in accordance with the ancient traditions by the Amarapura Sect for their services to the nation.
