Navy beats Army 10 - 8

Continuing their dominance in local rugby, Sri Lanka Navy beat Sri Lanka Army 10 points to eight in a Defence Services match played at Air Force Ground, Ratmalana on Tuesday. A large gathering of rugby fans thronged the ground to see the splendid performance displayed by the Navy during this encounter.

In a keenly fought match, Navy ruggerites scored a penalty and a goal in the first half while Army could only score a try and a penalty.

The final score stood at 10-eight in Navy’s favour. The Navy pack was led by Ramsith Peiris.

Sri Lanka Navy was voted the most popular team 2009 and Yoshitha Rajapaksa, voted the Most Popular Ruggerite in the Sunday Observer organized and Caltex Lubricants sponsored contest recently.
