Salary hike: Praise for President

Working class benefit:

President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s decision to increase the salaries of all workers including public servants has been highly acclaimed by the entire working class, SLFP Public Sector Trade Union Federation Secretary D.C. Weerasekara said.

This decision which was announced at the seventh National Convention of the SLFP oriented Sri Lanka Nidahas Sevaka Sangamaya had dislodged attempts made by certain power hungry trade unions to cause disruption to development and normal life by deceiving workers to take on to the streets, he said.

The proposed salary increase would spur development by creating a contented workforce. The working class has placed great confidence on the President who ended thirty years of terrorism in this country.

The working class should be commended for assisting the war effort by temporarily bearing up their salary and other issues.
