Minister Gunawardena amazed at Bahu's decision

Chief Government Whip and Urban Development and Sacred Area Development Minister Dinesh Gunawardena was astonished at the conduct of Wickramabahu Karunaratne in joining with the United National Front reminding that he was imprisoned for taking part in the 1980 July strike during the UNP regime.

Minister recalling that thousands of public servants who resorted to trade union action demanding for a Rs. 2.50 pay hike, were interdicted by the UNP in 1980. He said that UNP had no moral right to talk of employees' rights. The Minister was responding to a question raised by UNP Parliamentarian Ranjith Aluvihare.
