Govt officials in NP called back to their posts

Northern Province Governor G.A. Chandrasiri has issued instructions to relevant officials of the Northern Province to order all officials of the Provincial Government from the Grama Sevakas onwards to report to their posts immediately.

He issued these instructions during a progress review of the Uthuru Vasanthaya program at the Provincial Office in Trincomalee.

The meeting was attended by all Secretaries to the Provincial Ministries and Departmental Heads in the North.

He said all officials should work with dedication to ensure the success of the Uthuru Vasanthaya accelerated development program which is being carried under the guidance of Senior Presidential Advisor Basil Rajapaksa MP adding that they were receiving the unstinted co-operation of the officials of the Task Force.

He said although Government institutions were not yet operating in certain cleared areas, public servants of these areas were being paid their salaries to date. Since the Government has now taken action to provide all infrastructure facilities to these areas before resettlement all such officials should return to their places of duty adding that steps should be taken to discontinue payment of salaries of those who failed to do so.

He said it is important to reach targets under the Uthuru Vasanthaya program in the areas and that measures should be taken to meet these targets on schedule.
