Annular Solar Eclipse visible here Jan 15

An Annular Solar Eclipse will occur on January 15 next year which will be clearly visible over the Northern parts of Sri Lanka especially Jaffna, said astronomer Anura C. Perera.

He said those unable to travel to the North can choose a safe area above chilaw and Trincomalee town to view this spectacle. The eclipse will begin at 9.35 a.m. and end at 3.37 p.m. People in the North can view it between 1.20 p.m. and 1.30 p.m. by using protective gear without trying to view it by the naked eye.
