UNP making lame excuses now - Minister

Leader of the House Health Minister Nimal Siripala de silva told Parliament yesterday that the UNP which was fully aware on its definite loss in today's Southern Provincial Council polls is now attempting to find various excuses to cover up their defeat.

"The UNP which had continuously lost seven elections will definitely see the same results at the southern Provincial Council polls as well.

Don't come up with false excuses. Reform your party properly and come for contests," the Minister said.

The Minister said this in response to a statement made by UNP MP Dayasiri Jayasekera who claimed that there were rumours of certain attempts to change ballot boxes when they were being transported to the counting centres after the polls.
