Decline in Novel Influenza cases

Officials at the airport

No Novel Avian Influenza (A)H1N1 patients were treated at the IDH during the past week and this shows a significant decline in the affected persons, IDH, Director Dr.Anura Senanayake said.

He said the IDH treated 100 confirmed Novel Avian Influenza (A)H1N1 patients so far since the first patient arrived in Sri Lanka in mid June and at the moment there are no patients in the hospital. Only one person is waiting to be diagnosed. No patients were reported for a period of one week.

Meanwhile, Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry sources said Sri Lanka has very successfully managed Novel Avian Influenza (A)H1N1 when comparing with the other countries and carry out diagnosis speedily and free of charge.
