After 19 years:

Paddy land developed in North

Paddy lands in the Mannar district are being asweddumized and developed after 19 years under the Uthuru Vasanthaya 180-day development program in the North.

Sri Lanka Army Engineering Brigade is fully assisting this program and the cultivation of fallow paddy lands in Musali and Mantai North in Mannar district is now in progress.

The rehabilitation of paddy lands in Musali, Yoda Wewa, Silavathura, Nochchikulam, Ranketh Wewa and Nochchikotai and the development of the surrounding infrastructure facilities is also progressing rapidly.

Senior Presidential Advisor Basil Rajapaksa MP who toured the region to observe the work in progress instructed officials to expedite the clearing of mines to facilitate resettlement of families and provide all facilities to farmers who are trying to restart their normal livelihood after the total eradication of terrorism.
