Deniyaya welfare centre to boost plantation workers

A newly established Social Welfare Development Centre constructed in Deniyaya Estate, Deniyaya spending over Rs. 250 million was opened by Plantation Industries Minister D.M. Jayaratne recently.

Addressing a gathering after unveiling the plaque, Minister Jayaratne said that his visit was the first visit in 20 years by a Minister in the history of the Deniyaya Plantation. The main objective of the project is to increase the productivity of the plantation industry. "The workers in the plantation sector today are living happily and harmoniously because of welfare benefits granted to them under the direction of the present Government.
