UPFA records increase in vote base

The pattern of votes polled by the major political parties after the Presidential Election 2005 showed a progressive increase for the UPFA while the votes polled by the two other political parties the UNP and JVP decreased considerably from election to election.

Vote on Account for interim period:

Budget for 2010 will be presented by new Government

Leader of the House and Healthcare and Nutrition Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva told Parliament yesterday, the decision of the Government to present a Vote on Account instead of an Appropriation Bill was not done succumbing to influence or pressure from the IMF or any other organisation.
