Villagers clash with protestors

UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake, UNP Parliamentarian Ravi Karunanayake and their supporters were allegedly attacked yesterday when they tried to illegally enter a private owned premises in Deniyaya.

These UNPers were said to be attacked when they tried to launch a protest against a house which is under construction after trespassing on a private land.

The villagers and residents of the area had totally opposed the action of the UNP members as they tried to create an unnecessary controversy over a house which is being built at Beverly Estate. Ravi Karunanayake is said to have received head injuries while around 20 vehicles were also damaged.
