Reconstruction of Niyagama National VTC complete before year's end

Sri Lanka Vocational Training Authority, Human Resources Development
and Administration Director G.M.P.A. Gallaba yesterday said the
Authority will have completed reconstruction of the Niyagama National
Vocational Training Centre Project in Galle before the end of the year.
The Niyagama National Vocational Training Centre (VTC) is being
reconstructed at a cost of Rs. 1200 million with Korean aid, he said.
The project is under way in keeping with an agreement signed between
the Sri Lankan Government and the South Korean Import -Export Bank, he
said.
The Government has allocated US $ 2.24 million for the project and
the South Korean Import - Export Bank US 8.78 million dollars.
Gallaba said, the Korean Government has supplied much needed modern
machinery, equipment, tools and computers for the facility to conduct
its training courses.
He said the aim of the project is to develop human resources in the
South, promote self employment and provide productive and employable
skills training to the unemployed youth .The Niyagama National
Vocational Training Centre is expected to provide job oriented welding
courses, computer diploma courses, automotive and motor mechanic
courses, refrigeration and air conditioning courses, hotel diploma
courses and many other courses. |
