Electrical transmission lines to be upgraded

The electrical power transmission lines will be upgraded to regularise the power supply and distribution in the country.

According to Ceylon Electricity Board sources, over 478 km of new transmission lines and 31 grid sub-stations will be added to the National Grid under this project.

The CEB has also taken measures to develop the other 31 grid sub- stations to ease the distribution of electricity from the Norochcholai and Trincomalee power plants to other areas after commissioning their new plants. The Government has already started the construction of the electricity transmission lines spending over Rs. 11,000 million, in line with the development of the North and East of the country. The project is to be completed within three years.
