Iraj making it big

Iraj, a name that is not unknown to the people of Sri Lanka is making his way up the ladder as he releases his music production in one of Vijay’s new film Vettaikaran. The music album for the film was launched last month and one of the tracks in the film Chinna Thamarai that is performed by Krish and Suchitra with lyrics written by Vivega.

This album makes the third album has done in Chennai, along with other fellow artists from Sri Lanka like Renesh, Denesh, BK, Krish and Suchitra. Iraj is opening his new studio in Chennai, in which he says he wants to promote the local talent of our people to the Asian region.

The concept in the studio is the same as in the one he has in Colombo. He will be flying up and down in the weekends to Chennai as he has is own shows that he does here along with the Iraj show and the one on Y fm.

He has made his name big here as well as in Malaysia, Singapore and South India and he will be promoting his upcoming Tamil album in the countries mentioned.

The biggest hit of his that is now getting a lot of air play and heating up the radio stations as well as all the video chart shows is Yayata Payana sung by Prihan. When asked about the video of Yayata Payana he said that its totally an original video.

“The mindset of the people in the country think a lot like “Bollywood” and in this video the guys dream about his girl in a style that would take place in a Bollywood film”, Iraj says. A lot of people now talk about people copying other people’s music and one such incident did take place with me because the track the I did with Ranidu, Ninda Noyena Handawe, the music was copied by Jassie Gift and even the music of Ahankare Nagare was copied by Dhina for the movie Anthony Yaar.

Something I have noticed in our music industry is that it has advanced to a higher level and we make music videos for a lesser amount than countries like Asia. Iraj while continuing to make, mix and produce music that makes many listeners move at the very first beat of it has his own show on Derana called the “Iraj show” Fridays 6pm-7pm and on Y fm Fridays 8pm-10pm.

Fans of Iraj should look forward to his new album out soon, that will definitely be a knock-out in the music market of Sri Lanka.
